Parawing Downwind Foiling Hands-Free Glide North Sonar
North Ranger Parawing Downwind Bundle
A matched 4-piece setup to get on foil with wind power, then pack the kite away and surf the bumps freely.
This bundle pairs the North Ranger Parawing with the efficient North Midi mid-length foil board and a glide-focused Sonar downwind foil set (DW1100 front wing + S142 stabilizer). The result is a clean, purpose-built platform for parawinging, downwind foiling, and linking open-ocean swell with minimal drag, quick takeoffs, and a stable neutral feel once you sheet off and ride.
- Single-skin parawing with short bridles
- Packable: ride hands-free after takeoff
- Midi semi-displacement hull efficiency
- Sonar downwind glide + ventilation resistance
- Includes bar, backpack, covers & hardware packs
Whats Included in This Bundle
1) North Ranger Parawing Parawing + carbon control bar + on-water backpack (packs slim, drains fast, designed to wear over a buoyancy vest). 2) North Midi Foil Board Board with EVA deckpad and leash plug + DropBox screw pack (4 M8x30mm + 4 T-nuts). 3) Sonar Downwind DW1100 Front Wing Front wing + cover + screw pack D (M8x25mm). 4) Sonar Glide S142 Stabilizer Stabilizer + cover + stabilizer screw pack C (M8x16) + titanium screws. Not included: Sonar mast, fuselage, board leash, foilboard straps, and any additional safety gear. If youd like help completing the build, Windance can recommend the best Sonar mast/fuse options for your riding goals.
Why This Setup Works
Wind Power to Foil Then Freedom to Surf
The Ranger is designed to pull you up on foil using wind energy, then collapse/pack away so you can ride the swell with an open, hands-free feel. A reachable depower tab helps you quickly dump power when youre lit.
Efficient Board Speed & Fast Transitions
The Midis slender outline and semi-displacement hull are tuned to build speed on the water with less drag, making takeoffs feel smoother and more predictable in both light wind and mixed chop.
Downwind Glide with Real Top-End
The DW series front wing is built for easy low-speed lift while still carrying efficient speed to stay with faster moving swellideal for linking bumps and maintaining glide between power strokes.
Stiff, Fast, High-Aspect Tail Support
The Glide S142 stabilizer uses a thin, high-aspect profile and high-modulus carbon for stiffness and a clean, efficient feel. Its quick and whippy when you want tighter lines or more responsive direction changes.
Ranger Parawing Size Guide
Use this as a starting point. Wind ranges vary with rider weight, skill, foil choice, and board volume. The baseline reference for these ranges is an 85 kg rider using a DW1100 and Midi 96L.
| Ranger Size |
Recommended Wind Range (knots) |
Best Use (Quick Guidance) |
| 2.2m |
2540 |
High wind control, smallest canopy, fastest handling |
| 3.2m |
1826 |
Everyday stronger breeze, efficient starts, good range |
| 4.2m |
1420 |
Most popular all-around downwind/parawing size |
| 5.2m |
1015 |
Light wind starts, bigger bumps, maximum low-end pull |
Pro tip: Many riders carry two sizes for better coverage. The Ranger backpack is designed to make on-water size swaps practical without returning to shore.
Midi Board Sizing (Shape & Dimensions)
The Midi range is built around a mid-length outline, medium rocker, soft rounded rails, and a DropBox foil mount (16590mm) for fast mounting. Smaller sizes can crossover into prone surf; larger sizes add stability and paddle-up potential.

Foil Package: DW1100 + S142
Sonar Downwind DW1100 Front Wing
Tuned for low-speed lift and efficient glide while retaining speed to match faster swell. A downwind-specific outline balances longer glide with the maneuverability you need to steer through moving bumps and keep the foil alive under your feet.
Includes: Wing cover + screw pack D (M8x25mm).
Sonar Glide S142 Stabilizer
High-aspect, thin section stabilizer designed to extend glide and respond quickly. Built in high-modulus carbon for stiffness and precise feelfast, efficient, and highly responsive once youre moving.
Includes: Stabilizer cover + screw pack C (M8x16) with titanium screws.
Setup note: The DW1100 is commonly paired with Glide series stabilizers to balance glide and turning response. If youre running much larger front wings than the DW1100 in the future, you may prefer a larger stabilizer for added support.
